Description:

This session will focus on how educational institutions that are located in a rural environment can reach out to adjunct faculty who might be located miles from a main campus location. The speaker will provide examples of how one institution has taken a proactive approach to reaching out to adjunct faculty who are located in rural areas by offering an Adjunct Faculty Orientation session specifically designed for them. Utilizing distance learning technology, adjunct participation increased from 10 to 50 faculty over a two year period.

Those who are interested in adjunct faculty and instruction and specifically for those institutions located in a rural environment.

This session will address issues regarding adjunct faculty communication, communicating with adjunct faculty in a rural setting, and how thinking outside the box can benefit all involved.

Expected Learning Outcomes:

Attendees of this session will be provided with details about how the revised orientation was structured along with the topics that are covered and participants will be able to see two-years of feedback from adjunct faculty who participated in the orientation session.
